The Story Behind Our Awareness Ribbons
At Bead & Stitch, our awareness ribbons are more than just crafts — they're symbols of strength, hope, and solidarity.
How It Started
The idea came from wanting to create something that was both beautiful and meaningful. I started wrapping plastic awareness ribbons in yarn, giving them a handmade, textured feel that you can't find in mass-produced ribbons.
But what makes them truly special are the poems. Each ribbon color comes with its own original poem that speaks to the shared experiences of those affected by the causes it represents.
The Colors and Their Meanings
Pink — A Whisper of Pink
Our pink ribbons honor those fighting breast cancer and women's health challenges. The poem speaks of hope, strength, and the fierce determination of every woman who refuses to give up.
Orange — The Glow of Orange
Orange represents causes like leukemia, ADHD, and hunger awareness. The poem captures the invisible fight — the exhausting effort to appear normal when nothing about your day is easy.
Green — The Will of Green
Green stands for mental health, organ donation, and kidney disease. The poem speaks to the body not working the way it should, and the courage it takes to ask for help when pride fights back.
Purple — The Strength of Purple
Purple covers Alzheimer's, epilepsy, domestic violence, and more. The poem honors the hidden pain, the things that are lost, and the warrior spirit that keeps fighting.
Each Ribbon Comes With
- A laminated card with the poem on one side
- A list of causes the color represents on the other
- Our motto: "This ribbon stands for many causes — these are just a few. Wear it for yours."
